"Better access to journals in EBSCO and JSTOR (sometimes recent stuff is not available)."

That’s a very insightful comment, and you’re absolutely right that EBSCO and JSTOR both have included significant numbers of journals with what is called a “moving wall” (meaning that content only becomes available through the database after a certain period of time has passed: the lag time may be one, two, three, even five or seven years).

We have very little control over the journals (and any associated moving walls) that are included in EBSCO and JSTOR. We subscribe to EBSCO and JSTOR databases, and EBSCO and JSTOR work with journal publishers to license content for inclusion in their databases.

JSTOR was specifically built as an archival database, so it usually does not include the most recent years of the journals included. Journals in EBSCO more frequently have content to the present, but publishers sometimes require that EBSCO not include the most recent 6 or 12 or 18 months of a journal, in order to maintain market demand for that journal.

I know this answer doesn’t solve the problem, but there will always be journals for which we do not have access, and for those we recommend Interlibrary Loan, which will frequently have the article available online for you within two or three business days.
